Today, our Gifted and Talented students had the opportunity to visit Sequoyah’s Cabin in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where they explored the life and legacy of Sequoyah. Students learned about his role in creating the Cherokee syllabary and the lasting impact it had on literacy and communication within the Cherokee Nation. Through guided discussion and hands-on exploration, students gained a deeper understanding of Native American history, culture, and Sequoyah’s contributions to education and preservation of language. The visit provided a meaningful, engaging learning experience that connected classroom learning to real-world history.

Parents of 4th-6th graders, please remember to send back permission slips for talking circles groups. Your child will receive a total of $75 in gift cards throughout the 10 week program. Arlo Jumper is our counselor from Echota and also our boxing Coach. The students have really enjoyed this in the past. They focus on a lot of cultural based programming. If you need a permission slip ask Mrs. Holmes.
Movies and Mr. Bs pizza! We had a great day!
